The Best Ever German Marblecake

To me, this cake just screams “BIRTHDAYYYYY”, as my mum always made it for my birthday when I was little and I still make it for myself every year now. It is also one of the easiest cakes to make and just really simple yet delicious.

German Marblecake

Ingredients

  • 500g plain flour
  • 250g butter or margarine
  • 250g sugar
  • 5 sachets of Vanillasugar (That’s a German thing, if you cannot find any where you live, just add an extra 40g of sugar and a drop of pure vanilla extract.)
  • 6 eggs
  • 15g baking powder
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1tbsp cocoa-powder and 1tbsp sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 180C/350F.

Grease your bundt cake pan and light dust it with flour. Sift together the flour and the baking powder. Cream the butter or margarine and gradually add in the sugar and the vanillasugar as you keep beating the mixture. Once smooth, add one egg at a time, beating in every egg for about 30 seconds before adding the next one. After this, add the milk. Turn your mixer on low and gradually add the flour and baking powder.

Once smooth, put about half of the dough into the bundt cake pan. Sift the cocoa-powder and sugar into the other half of the dough and beat to combine. Once combined, add thisΒ  bundt cake pan as well. Take a fork and swirl through the dough to create the marble pattern.

Bake for 80 Minutes at 180C/350F.

And VoilΓ , you’ve got the best birthday cake ever invented. Your kids will love it and so will you. So simple yet so delicious.
